PARTICIPATORY WORKSHOP
From the 13th to the 15th November, took place the participatory workshop about the “Modernization of the teaching methods” at the University of Carthage. The 30 selected Tunisian teachers together with the project partners met to discuss about how to enhance the quality in higher education, following EU education policy. During the morning the European partners (NRD-UNISS, UNIMED, UdG and AUTH) made their presentations about three key topics:
a. the strategies and the methodologies for improving teaching;
b. the learning processes;
c. the student-oriented learning to meet the needs of the students. All the participant exchanged their experiences during the afternoon round tables.
VISIT TO THE THREE TUNISIAN HEIS
The project coordinator Prof Luciano Gutierrez and the project Manager Dr Matteo Funaro visited the three Tunisian HEIs from the 16 to the 17 July 2018. During the visit were presented the analysis of the data collected through the questionnaire administered to the local institution’s professors and teachers, and to the enterprises. The participants gave they suggestions and observation, which were gathered and integrated into the Need Assessment Report.

More than half of Tunisia’s youth and highly educated have considered emigrating!The 13th of November, the Afrobarometer published the results of a survey about emigration tendencies. The results show that 58% of the highly educated young people, in the age range from 18-35 years old are planning to emigrate. The preferred destination is Europe and the main reason is to look for an employment opportunity. The results of the afrobarometer survey are perfectly in line with the one gather in the Partner institutions during the Need assessment activities of the MAYA Project. The students of the partner institutions are highly concerned with the unemployment rate, they are foreseeing to attend the proposed Master in order to increase their possibility to find a job.The 26th November, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has launched a program aimed to strengthen the Career Centers and Certification Skills "4C". Its objective is to improve the professional integration of graduates through a platform which gives access to all students and graduates of higher education to a service of counseling, training, certification and support to professional integration.
