Hi VR Learners,

Did You Know... The U.S. Government Loves VR! Both NASA and the U.S. military are investing in virtual reality. NASA uses the technology to try to connect engineers with the devices they send into space. Using the Oculus, and motion sensing equipment from the Xbox One gaming console, NASA engineers are developing ways to control a robotic arm with gestures made by the operator here on Earth.

UC San Diego invites you to learn about How Virtual Reality Works! This course will offer you a great and thorough introduction into how VR technology works -- both hardware and software aspect.

What You Will Learn

Each week, we’ll talk about the options, challenges, and tradeoffs in various aspects of VR product or application design, and engage you in exploring those concepts in the realm of current space of VR apps. You will discuss interesting or cutting edge applications of these concepts through guided review of demonstrations of those applications. Additionally, you will get hands-on experience in evaluating, critiquing, and considering alternative designs for existing VR apps. This course is geared towards a wide audience, and programming ability is not required. We want everyone to learn more about VR! However, an optional section each week supports those looking to dive into scaffolded VR development by exploring WebVR, and is recommended for those pursuing the Professional Certificate.

A few reminders:

This is the second of a three-course Virtual Reality Professional Certificate program. For more information on this program, visit here! This course is self-paced and will end on February 19, 2019.
